Tennis / Golfer’s Elbow

You don’t have to play tennis or golf to get this! These conditions are types of repetitive strain injury (RSI). The muscles around the elbow become strained usually from an initial trauma. It continues to develop, almost as if the muscles are then slowly ‘peeled off’ the bone. It can be very painful and debilitating. If the pain is centred on the inside of the elbow we call it Golfer’s Elbow; on the other side we call it Tennis elbow

*Pain around the elbow
*Swelling around the elbow
*Sudden pain in the elbow or forearm
*Sudden shooting pain down the forearm
*Pain on sudden unguarded movements
*Difficulty making a grip – to hold a pan, open a jam jar, carry a bag or briefcase, gripping a steering wheel.
*Aggravated by typing, ironing etc or other repetitive action
